About White Queen Canvas

White Queen Canvas
White Queen Canvas is an Australian owned company producing the highest quality canvas for professional artists.

We strive to be the best and when you recieve your canvas you'll know why.
Each canvas stretcher is hand made using sustainable timer stretcher bars with solid timber bracing. We don't use finger jointed bracing because we like our stretchers to stay square and strong. All stretching is done by hand, tight as a drum and designed to stay that way, you will never get any strike through on your artwork due to the brush hitting the bracing. All canvas is triple primed with premium gesso because we just don't rate factory rolled generic gesso when it comes to the longevity of your artwork. All frames are made from sustainable oak and hand finished for perfect corners. Each canvas comes complete with a 2mm recyclable foam canvas protector which is safe for your protecting your finished artwork. All canvas also comes wrapped in recyclable bubble wrap inside a custom made cardboard box. When your artwork is in the box it is protected on each corner by 4 pieces of 4mm cardboard as well as the bubblewrap surrounding your canvas and frame, now thats peace of mind.

We have sourced and developed some of the best products and processes in the industry to produce the quality required to help professional artists thrive.
All the components you need to ship your finished artwork is included with your purchase, and as you know packing is one of the biggest issues facing artists today.
Why White Queen?
The name White Queen is chess related, the strongest piece on the board and white moves first. This was not always the case however in 1880 it was decided that to better the game the player colour was determined by drawing from a lot and who ever chose the white piece had to make the first move. The reason was a skill equaliser as the white queen is positioned to the left on the board and the black queen is positioned to the right, every player had to lift their strategic game from each playing position.
